A small Kathmandu company that answers its own phone

Mountain Tours & Travels is a tour operator based in Kathmandu, built around a simple idea: the person who plans your trip should be the person who answers your messages, watches the weather on your flight morning and calls the driver to confirm. No call centers, no hand offs, no scripts.

We arrange five kinds of travel across Nepal: classic tours from heritage walks to jungle safaris, helicopter tours into the high Himalaya, fixed wing mountain flights including the Lukla run, pilgrimage and darshan journeys, and clean, reliable vehicles with careful drivers. Some guests book a single airport pickup; others hand us three weeks and a wish list. Both get the same attention.

How we work

Everything begins with an inquiry, never a payment. You tell us dates, group and interests; we reply with a day by day plan and a written price that lists what is included and what is not. We adjust it together until it fits, and only then do you confirm. If a plan is not right for the season, we say so and suggest what is, even when the honest option is the cheaper one.

During your trip we stay reachable on WhatsApp through office hours and beyond them when flights and mountains are involved. Weather moves plans in Nepal; when it does, we rebook, reroute and keep you informed rather than leaving you to queue at a counter.

What we believe

• Honest advice first. The right trip beats the biggest invoice. We would rather tell you a viewpoint will be cloudy than sell you a disappointment.
• Clear prices. Written quotes, inclusions spelled out, no surprises on the day.
• Local work, fairly paid. Our guides, drivers and lodge partners are paid properly and on time. Good trips are built by people who are treated well.
• Safety over schedule. Flights wait for weather, drivers hold sensible speeds, altitude gets respected. Plans bend so that trips do not break.
• Respect for places. Temples are living places of worship, parks are wild, and we brief every guest so Nepal is better for having hosted them.
